EEC Startup Review

The project aims to build a device that can determine the levels of drugs, antibiotics and proteins in a patient's blood using a disposable measuring tip. The device operates in single measurement mode, using a strip test (returning the result in seconds) and in continuous measurement mode, where the concentration of a drug (e.g. antibiotic) is monitored in real-time. The first three tests focus on the determination of vancomycin, gentamicin and procalcitonin, which would find application in intensive care units. Point-Of-Care technology is expected to enable rapid diagnosis, which is crucial in the treatment of serious diseases. Timely response has a significant impact on the effectiveness of therapy, especially for diseases such as sepsis. Access to modern technology will facilitate the work of healthcare providers, contributing to faster test results and personalised therapy. The solution will benefit hospitals with limited capacity to perform specialised and expensive tests.
